International Womens Day 2021 - Skerries Harps

Updated: Mar 9, 2021

Over the years we have had so many female members that have been the driving force behind our club both on and off the field of play. These ladies have supported, mentored, coached, led, and inspired in so many ways. Today on International Women's day we acknowledge and celebrate our Skerries Harps female members.

The theme of this year's International Women's day is 'Choose to Challenge'. We've talked to a number of our players and members about the challenges they have faced this year and also what we need to challenge.

Skerries Harps is where we all belong and we're all in this together. Enjoy our videos and a huge thanks to Jackie Kelly and Louise Byrne for the compilation.

Part One

Jackie Kelly chats to Louise Byrne (Games Development), Saoirse Kavanagh, and Niamh Daly (Senior Ladies) about challenges faced this year through Covid restrictions and taking care of and supporting each other.

Part Two

Gráinne Redmond (PRO) chats with Lyndsey Davey about challenges faced by women in sport and what we can do to support, about work as a firefighter and the importance of sport for our young women.

Part Three

Jackie Kelly (Health and Wellbeing) chats to Cait O'Donoghue remembers Kathleen McPoland, and the huge contribution she and other women made over the years for our great club, and give some wise words for the future.
